  • Sometimes we get very set in our ways and we think that we're always right.  Ok -- I know that I'm always right and I'm going to share my thoughts on this because I know I'm never wrong . . . or right?   I'll let you decide that one. Read more >>
  • This Little Light of Mine
  • 17 July 2009
  • "This little light of mine . . . I'm gonna let it shine" I sang, anxiously peeking out from behind the door and teacher's leg.  I was about four or five years old at the time and I was learning about Jesus, God, and putting my offering in the collection plate.  Read more >>
  • I did not choose how my marriage ended.
  • 14 March 2009
  • I did not choose how my marriage ended.  I played a large part in where it ended up, but my vow to God was one of the hardest things to come to terms with when it fell apart.  I even boldly proclaimed that "my God is big enough to restore it" but I realize now that God had a much bigger and better plan.  God was not the focus of my marriage in the past and I now know how those dismal statistics on failing marriages can hold true.  Each and every day people "fall in love" and at some point they are "falling out of it".   How can that be? "When am I ever going to be strong enough to talk to Travis about my faith?" Bob asked himself. Read more >>
  • Reflecting Pools of Light
  • 12 August 2009
  • The water glistens and shimmers in the hot afternoon sun.  The pool, an oasis in the midst of the little space that we call our backyard.   It's by no means fancy, it's just an above ground pool with a modest deck and not too many frills, but it's been a focal point for entertainment during the summer months.  It's been a long standing tradition for my family, my parents buying their first pool back when I was just a kindergartner (33 years ago).  I remember my parents had a little metal stock tank that was a pre-cursor to the real pool they would purchase  and put up themselves.  I grew up around pools, thus avoiding the hassles of vacations or going to a lake for aquatic enjoyment.  Later I continued that heritage with plunking a pool into our own family's backyard . . . eliminating a little yard work and a very pesky willow tree that attempted to strangle me while mowing.
